Our chip external-cavity lasers (CECLs) are grating-feedback lasers fabricated on a rigid monolithic substrate without any moving parts or piezos. Frequency tuning is via injection current and temperature. The short external cavity increases immunity to vibration and enables mode-hop-free tuning over 10 GHz ranges, enabling fast, tight locking to cavities or atomic and molecular transitions. CECLs combing the robust nature of DFB/DBR lasers with the low phase noise and wavelength flexibility of external cavity lasers. The center wavelenth is fixed during manufacture. The module comes with two stages of TEC temperature control, 35 dB of optical isolation, and circularization optics.
