Dr. Farca has extensive expertise in integrated optical and photonics systems. While working as a graduate student he developed whispering-gallery mode (WGM) and ring-microresonators, extending from theoretical modeling to WGM-based sensor and microlaser development. His prior research resulted in the development of a cavity enhanced ultrasensitive chemical sensor, a novel WGM quantum dot laser, and the first demonstration of coupled resonator induced transparency using high quality factor WGM microresonators. At Vescent Dr. Farca is involved with LC-waveguide based beamsteerers for LADAR applications, optical waveguide couplers, and the development of new integrated optical devices.
