Dr. Davis has extensive experience with liquid crystal (LC) device physics, molecular and laser spectroscopy, precision metrology, and laser stabilization. He has been involved with the development of LC based spatial light modulators, LC-polarimeters, and LC-polarization controllers. While working at NIST in Gaithersburg and JILA in Colorado he acquired skills in lasers stabilization, optical frequency metrology, and molecular spectroscopy. At Vescent Dr. Davis is developing a range of LC-waveguide based devices including: tunable ring-resonators, LC-waveguide FTIRs, LC-waveguide polarization modulators, and wide-angle beamsteerers. He has over 20 papers in referred journals, and nine patents pending and/or filed. As Vice President of Technology he is charged with the development of Vescent's intellectual property portfolio and the continued pursuit of new technology. Prior to starting Vescent Photonics, Dr. Davis worked in industry as an optical engineer, served as an NRC postdoc in the laboratories of David Plusquellic at NIST in Gaithersburg MD, and obtained his Ph.D. from JILA under the tutelage of David Nesbitt.
