The top plot shows optical waves (each minima corresponds to one half wave of phase delay) as a function of voltage. The bottom plot shows total optical phase delay as a funciton of voltage and the inset shows a picture of the device. This device provided greater than one millimeter of voltage tunable optical phase, which is larger than any other technology that we are aware of.
